How It Happened
PINE VALLEY, N.Y. – Lebanon Valley's women's ice hockey team fell, 7-0, to the 4th-ranked Elmira College Soaring Eagles on Sunday afternoon. The Dutchmen fall to 3-7-1 un UCHC play while the Soaring Eagles improve to 8-1 in league play on the year. Despite the loss, senior goaltender Jill Moffatt became the all-time leader in NCAA history in career saves with 4,227 and counting.
 
Elmira got on the board early in the first period as the Soaring Eagles tallied a shorthanded goal to take the early 1-0 lead over the Dutchmen. Elmira would add two more scores before the first 20 minutes was up and held a 3-0 lead at the first intermission.
 
The Soaring Eagles added three more goals in the second period and one in the final frame to pick up the 7-0 victory over the Dutchmen in UCHC play.
 
Inside the Numbers
  • Jill Moffatt made 61 saves in net for the Dutchmen. She now is the NCAA all-time record holder for most career saves as she has stopped 4,227 shots and counting for the Dutchmen in between the pipes.
  • Elmira went 1-3 on the powerplay along with a shorthanded goal, while the Dutchmen were held scoreless on three man-up chances.
  • LVC was outshot 68-8 in the contest.
  • Each team was penalized three times for six penalty minutes each side.

 
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 1, when they take on King's College (Pa.) in UCHC and MAC action. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
