How It Happened
HERSHEY, Pa. – Lebanon Valley snapped a five-game skid by blanking Chatham University 4-0 on Saturday night in UCHC Men's Ice Hockey action. The Flying Dutchmen improved to 4-11-1, 2-6-1-1 UCHC, while the Cougars dropped to 2-15, 1-9 UCHC.
 
At the 12:26 mark of the opening period, Tino Alunni got LVC a lead when he scored from Jared Karas for the 1-0 Dutchmen advantage. Then, just over four minutes later, Danny Galvez slipped one past Michael Callan from Tyler Romel and Cole Hepler to give LVC a two-goal advantage. For the remainder of the period, Henry Burns and LVC's defense kept Chatham at bay and went into the first intermission with a 2-0 lead.
 
Midway through the second period, Connor Matsinger got in on the scoring with a wristshot that found the back of the net with an assist from Kevin Van Bokkelen. Just 40 seconds later, Karas made it 4-0 in favor of the Dutchmen with a tally from Mark Kishko and Alunni. From then on, Burns took over and shut the door on the Cougars. LVC held its comfortable lead for good, thanks to stout play from Burns and the Dutchmen defense in the 4-0 victory.
 
Inside the Numbers
 - Henry Burns stopped all 29 shots he faced in the shutout victory for LVC.
 - Jared Karas finished with a goal and an assist and was a +3 on the evening while winning 11-of-14 faceoffs.
 - Tino Alunni also had a goal and a helper, and was also a +3.
 - Mark Kishko registered an assist and a +3 rating.
 - Danny Galvez netted a goal on three shots and won 12-of-16 faceoffs.
 - Kevin Van Bokkelen won a game-high 15 faceoffs.
 - Ziki Mroz led the way in shots on goal for the Dutchmen with nine.
 - Alex Borowiec ended with five shots on goal.
 - As a team. LVC peppered Chatham with 50 total shots.
 - The Dutchmen held an overwhelming advantage in faceoff wins at 54-22.
 
Who's Next?
LVC's five-game homestand concludes on Friday, Jan. 24, when the Dutchmen welcome Wilkes University to Hersheypark Arena at 7 p.m. before traveling to Pittston, Pa. on Saturday, Jan. 25 for a matchup against King's at 7 p.m.
