How It Happened
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's basketball team dropped a heart-breaker of a marathon game as the Dutchmen came up just short, 81-77, in double overtime against Lycoming on Wednesday evening.

The Dutchmen trailed Lycoming by 10 points going into the fourth quarter and Lycoming would begin the period with a basket to put LVC down 12 before the Dutchmen would begin to chip away at the deficit. For the final 8:45 of regulation, the Dutchmen outscored the Warriors 19-7 and a layup by Daelyn Stabler with 21 seconds left would tie the game up and eventually send the contest into overtime.

In the first OT, LVC jumped all over Lycoming with seven quick points in the first 2:03 of the extra period with the Warriors needing a timeout following a Morgan Bamberger 3-pointer to regroup. After Emily Mealey hit a pair of free throws to put the Dutchmen up three with just 11 seconds left, Lycoming would knock down a free throw and then force a turnover by the Dutchmen and get fouled in the process. Emily Zoscin knocked down both free throws with three ticks to play and the teams went into a second overtime tied at 69.

The second overtime was tightly contested throughout but Lycoming led 77-76 with just 33 seconds to go and would knock down four of their six free throw attempts down the stretch to down LVC 81-77.

The game started poorly for the Dutchmen as they found themselves down 12-0 in the first couple minutes of the opening quarter. LVC would battle back and eventually led 28-25 around the midway point of the second quarter. The Dutchmen offense would go cold to close out the first half as Lycoming went into intermission on a 7-0 run and led 32-28 at the break.

LVC had pulled even in the third quarter, 38-38, with 5:04 to play in the period but the Warriors closed the frame on a 10-0 run before the Dutchmen would comeback in the fourth.
