How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Dutchmen used stingy defense and timely offense to win their second conference game in as many tries as LVC topped Alvernia 57-47 on Saturday afternoon. The Dutchmen held Alvernia to just 28.1% shooting for the contest along with getting 18 big points from Morgan Bamberger en route to the victory. LVC improves to 7-7, 2-3 while the Golden Wolves drop to 6-8, 1-5.

The third quarter was the difference in the game as the Dutchmen outscored Alvernia 17-9 in the frame. After an early bucket by Alvernia, the Dutchmen eventually closed the period on a 15-3 run to grab a controlling nine-point halftime advantage. During the run, Bamberger knocked down a pair of 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions for LVC that pushed their lead out to 10 points.

In the fourth, LVC scored six points in just over a minute of play to balloon their lead to 15 points and Alvernia never got the game back within anything closer than seven points as the Dutchmen would comfortably cruise to their second straight conference win.

The opening half was evenly played throughout as the two teams were tied 11-11 after one quarter and then LVC held a slim 24-23 advantage at intermission after a Jaime Youngkin jumper with just several ticks left on the clock.
