How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's men's soccer team pitched a shutout as they picked up their first win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Dickinson on Saturday afternoon. Zach Reed and Rob Hanosek each picked up goals in the victory while Sean Quirk made a pair of saves and kept the Red Devils of the scoreboard. The Dutchmen improve to 1-1-1 on the season while Dickinson falls to 2-1.

The game was a physical contest throughout and neither team wasted time trying to oppose their will physically on the other. In the first half, there were four bookings, with each team receiving a pair of yellow cards. The scoring started towards the end of the first half when Reed found himself about 20 yards out with some space that he would capitalize on by placing the ball perfectly in the left corner to give the Dutchmen the one-goal advantage at the intermission.

LVC started to flex their muscles offensively in the second half creating dangerous scoring chances throughout the final 45 minutes. The Dutchmen would fire off 12 shots in the second half after just taking six in the opening half. One of those shots came off the foot of Hanosek in the 64th minute, who gathered a ricocheting ball inside the six-yard box and was able to punch it home and double the Dutchmen lead. The LVC defense backed by Quirk would hold Dickinson at bay and earn the clean sheet with a 2-0 victory.
