How It Happened
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's men's soccer recorded their second consecutive shutout as they defeated Susquehanna 2-0 on Wednesday evening.
Braydon Shuck and
Lucas Strange each found the back of the net in the first half to lead the Dutchmen while
Sean Quirk made four saves to conserve the clean sheet. LVC improves to 2-1-1 with the win while the River Hawks drop to 1-3 on the season.
The Dutchmen wasted no time to get on the scoreboard as Shuck dribbled down the right side and placed the ball in the left corner just three minutes into the contest to give LVC the early lead. A little under 20 minutes later, the game would come to a halt due to a weather delay.
The delay did not slow down the LVC offense as in the 30th minute the Dutchmen would double their lead. A perfectly executed give-and-go between Strange and
Noah Resuta would result in Strange's strike to put the Dutchmen up 2-0 in the first half. The Dutchmen would take the two-goal lead into intermission.
The second half was a physical one, as six of the seven yellow cards were issued in the second period, with all of them coming in the final 17 minutes of regulation. Despite the physicality, the LVC defense would not break as they held the River Hawks off the scoreboard for the game to earn their second straight 2-0 victory.
