How It Happened
ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's women's soccer team recorded their second straight shutout as the Dutchmen topped the Eastern University Eagles 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Lindsey Topper and
Bridgett Finn each found the back of the net for LVC. The Dutchmen improve to 3-4 while Eastern drops to 4-4 on the season.
The Dutchmen would create dangerous offensive opportunities in the early going as they fired off eight shots in the first 24:20 of play, but Eastern's Grace Schreckengast made four saves in net to keep LVC off the scoreboard. The Dutchmen would finally find the back of the net at the 24:51 mark of the first half when Topper would shoot to the upper-left corner of the goal and put LVC ahead 1-0 midway through the first half. The Dutchmen continued to be the aggressors on offense but the score would remain 1-0 at halftime.
In the second 45 minutes of play, LVC continued to generate chances offensively while holding Eastern's offense to just four shots for the entire half. In the 64th minute,
Lucy McGloshen would find Finn from just outside the 18-yard box and she would place it in the top-right corner to double the Dutchmen advantage to 2-0. The Dutchmen defense would hold strong, limiting Eastern to just nine shots and two on goal for the entire game as LVC earned the 2-0 victory.
