How It Happened
READING, Pa. –
Taylor Pentz scored the game-winning goal with 38 seconds remaining in overtime to give Lebanon Valley a thrilling 2-1 victory over Albright on Friday afternoon in each teams' Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) 2019 opener. The Flying Dutchmen improved to 4-5, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth, while the Lions fell to 3-7, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth.
With just 38 seconds to go in double overtime, it looked like LVC was headed to penalty strokes for the first time since 2015. Pentz had other plans, however. The Dutchmen pinned the Lions deep in their own zone late, and Pentz was able to create a one-on-one chance against an Albright defender. The junior maneuvered past the defender and scored the double-overtime winner.
In the early going,
Cecile Kat got the Dutchmen on the board when she received a pass from
Ashlee Sheibley into the middle and Kat hit the ball through Albright's goalie's legs, giving LVC the 1-0 advantage 5:43 into the opening quarter.
The Lions barely wasted any time with an equalizer, as Albright's Bailey Lehman found the back of the net just 32 seconds later to tie the game at 1-1. That score held all the way until Pentz's double-overtime tally.

- Kat scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season this afternoon. She recorded five shots on goal.
