How It Happened
IMMACULATA, Pa. –
Cecile Kat netted a hat trick to guide Lebanon Valley to its third consecutive victory on Wednesday evening in non-conference field hockey action. The Flying Dutchmen defeated the Mighty Macs 5-1 and improved to 6-5, while Immaculata fell to 5-8.
LVC got off to a hot start and never looked back, beginning with
Taylor Pentz's second goal of the season just 2:35 into the first quarter. Not much later, Kat netted her first of the game to give the visitors a quick 2-0 lead, and the Dutchmen then built on that lead in the second half when Kat scored her second of the game off an assist from Pentz.
Less than two minutes later, Kat reached the hat trick as she found the back of the net thanks to an assist from
Abbie Keath. Kat needed just 25 minutes of action to record three goals. After LVC made it 4-0, the Mighty Macs got one back when Maddy Edwards scored a little over two minutes after Kat's hat trick, but the Dutchmen still held comfortably at 4-1.
In the final quarter, defender
Alida Steenkamer put the game out of reach for good when the senior, who's known for her defensive saves, scored her second-career goal with the assist coming from
Ashlee Sheibley, to make it 5-1.
