Stevenson def. Lebanon Valley 3-0 (26-24, 25-14, 29-27)
How It Happened
OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Lebanon Valley's volleyball team tested an undefeated Stevenson squad, but fell in straight sets to the Mustangs in MAC Commonwealth play on Wednesday evening. LVC falls to 9-7, 1-2 on the year while Stevenson improves to 13-0, 3-0.
The first set would go back and forth for the first half of the set before the Dutchmen would go on a run to take control. The Dutchmen trailed 16-12 to the Mustangs before going on a 10-1 to take a 22-17 advantage and would lead 24-19 and serving for the set. Stevenson would answer and end the set winning the last seven points to take the first set 26-24. The second set was controlled by the Mustangs throughout as they took set two by a 25-14 mark.
The third set was another battle with both teams trading points throughout the set. Stevenson led 16-13 but the Dutchmen would win the next seven points and led 20-16 late in the third set. The Mustangs again turned it on late ending the game on a 13-7 run and took the set 29-27 for the victory.
Reily Shelly led the Dutchmen with 13 kills and a pair of service aces.
Amanda Sides and
Jayna Class picked up 10 and six kills respectively.
Emily Bartlett recorded a team-high three aces and 31 assists in the game.
Alice Thorsen led the Dutchmen defensively with 14 digs.
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen will head to Aston, Pa. to participate in the Neumann University tri-match on Saturday. LVC will take on Neumann at 1 p.m. followed by a matchup with Rowan University at 3 p.m.
