ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's esports squad was in action this past weekend and several Dutchmen turned heads in Overwatch, Hearthstone, and Rocket League in a number of matches against top teams throughout the country.
LVC's Hearthstone team, made up of
Brandon Kemmery,
Sean Angelini, and
Elijah Jones, competed at the HUE Invitational at Harrisburg University and went 2-1 on the opening day, defeating Lourdes 3-1 and Kent State 3-0 before being edged by a powerful Drexel team 3-2. The Dutchmen's success carried over to day two when they defeated NJIT 3-2 to advance to the top-8, but LVC was edged by Kent State 3-2 in the next round, but still finished third overall. The tournament featured Division I teams that were regarded as the best in the country, including some top-5 squads. Each team member walked away with $200 each and cemented themselves as a national title contender for the upcoming spring season.
The Dutchmen's Overwatch team also competed at the HUE Invitational and finished in the top-16. LVC defeated Culver-Stockton and Penn State via forfeit before falling to Penn State 2-0. The Dutchmen then dropped a 2-0 match to Stevenson, but won via forfeit against UNLV before dropping a 2-0 match to Stevenson and a 2-1 match to Louisiana-Lafayette. The Dutchmen's Overwatch team consisted of

Nikolai Neufeld-Kreider, and
Grayson Rule.
LVC's Rocket League team started off their season well and brought home some monster wins at the CCA Invitational and NACE regular season. At the CCA Invite, the Dutchmen dropped Penn State 3-2, blanked Washington State 3-0, and fell to UC Santa Barbara 3-0. In NACE regular season action, the Dutchmen defeated St. Clair College 3-1.
LVC's busy fall continues this evening when Hearthstone takes on local foe Albright College at 8 p.m.
