ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's men's tennis team picked up their first win of the fall campaign with an 8-1 victory over Scranton at Shankroff Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon.
The Dutchmen swept the doubles matches with relative ease over the Royals.
Blake Martin and
Justin Schuetz were victorious by an 8-6 mark at #1 doubles. In the #2 doubles slot,
Reed Morris and
Nicholas Balaci picked up a win 8-1.
Luke Senft and
Ben Hinkley were winners at the #3 doubles spot by an 8-3 score.
In singles play, the Dutchmen went 5-1 on the day. Martin picked up a straight set victory 6-1, 6-2 at #2 singles. In the #3 singles slot, it was Balaci picking up a victory by only surrendering one game in the two sets. Morris was victorious in the #4 singles slot in what was the match of the day, with both sets going to tiebreakers before a decisive third set. Morris dropped the first set 6-7 and then battled back in the second set to win 7-6 and 7-5 in the tiebreaker. In the third set, Morris was 10-5 to secure the victory. In #5 singles, Hinkley won both his sets 7-5 to pick up a victory. Senft was a winner in #6 singles 6-3, 6-0 to wrap up the day for the Dutchmen.
