How It Happened
GENEVA, N.Y. - Lebanon Valley picked up its first win of the young season after blanking St. Lawrence University 3-0 at game one the William Smith Classic this afternoon. The Dutchmen improved to 1-4, while the Saints fell to 1-4.
LVC started things off on the right foot when
Cecile Kat juked the opposition's goalie and found the back of the net for the fourth time this season and made it 1-0 in favor of the Dutchmen. From then until the end of the first half, LVC's defense stood tall and kept St. Lawrence off the scoreboard.
Just 2:29 into the third quarter,
Mikayla Poole scored her first goal of the season thanks to an assist from
Taylor Pentz to give the Dutchmen some breathing room at 2-0.
Nikki Willi,
Corinne Kearney, and LVC's defense however, only needed a one-goal advantage, as Willi and Kearney teamed up for the shutout victory. Early in the fourth quarter, Ashlee Shiebley put the game out of reach when she found the back of the net from the top of the arc's corner, making it a 3-0 game.
Inside the Numbers
- Willi earned the win after making four saves in 52:48. Kearney relieved Willi for the final 7:12 and stopped one shot.
