How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's women's soccer team dropped its home opener to No. 24 Stevens Institute of Technology by a 4-1 margin on Friday afternoon at Herbert Field. The Flying Dutchmen fell to 0-1, while the Ducks jumped to 1-0.

Just over 19 minutes into game action, Stevens scored the game's first goal when Gabby Saade created a breakaway and juked a defender, followed by a shot in the upper-right-hand corner that found the back of the net to give the visitors the early lead.  Under two minutes later, Stevens increased its advantage to 2-0 when Julia Panko received a pass from Louise Gottwald and scored into the lower-left hand corner of the net.

It looked like the Ducks were headed into the second half with a two-goal lead, but in the 41st minute, Brianna Mumma scored off an impressive free kick from 30 yards out that snuck into the left corner of the net for LVC's first goal of 2019. From there, the score stayed the same and the Dutchmen went into the second half down by just a goal at 2-1.

Early in the second, half, in the 49th minute, Stevens' G. Saade found the back of the net for a second time when she broke away from defenders and scored on the right side of the net. LVC was unable to come back from the two-goal deficit, and in the 87th minute, the Ducks put the game out of reach when Gottwald scored her first of the season.
