How It Happened
EMMITSBURG, Md. – Lebanon Valley suffered a 9-3 setback to Hood College on Sunday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth baseball action. The Flying Dutchmen slipped to 13-12, 5-7 MAC Commonwealth and the Blazers jumped to 16-9-1, 8-4 MAC Commonwealth.
Today's game was played at Mount St. Mary's University after the game was pushed to Sunday due to Friday's rainy forecast and Hood's field being unavailable today.
Neither team was able to push a run across the board until the bottom of the fourth when the Blazers put up a three-spot, beginning with Brad Sawyer's single to center. Staton then reached on a fielder's choice and after an error, two more runs were scored. LVC got one back in the top of the fifth when
Bryan Towers singled home
Nick O'Shea, but the Dutchmen still found themselves down 3-1 after five innings of action.
Hood then added a run in the bottom of the sixth, but
Joey Wrabel got it back with one swing of the bat when he homered to left field, bringing the Dutchmen to within two at 4-2. In the bottom of the seventh, though, the Blazers increased their advantage to 6-2 and added three more runs in the bottom of the eighth. LVC was unable to dig out of the hole and eventually fell 9-3.
