How It Happened
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Elizabethtown Blue Jays outscored the Lebanon Valley Flying Dutchmen 6-3 on Wednesday afternoon's baseball action. The Blue Jays improved to 8-19, while the Dutchmen dropped to 13-13.
Elizabethtown was the first to score after Mike Christy hit a homerun in the opening inning. With LVC still trying to find its first run, the Blue Jays got its second homerun of the game and plated two more runs and took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third.
In the top of the fifth, the Dutchmen earned its first run after
Chris DeClerico hit a homerun to left field. Elizabethtown plated three more runs and led 6-1 in the bottom of the sixth. Both teams stayed locked up until the top of the eighth when the Dutchmen scored two more runs to come within three of the Blue Jays. The Dutchmen kept Elizabethtown from scoring another run in the bottom if the eighth, but LVC wasn't able to score any more runs in the final inning, and Elizabethtown went on to win 6-3.
