Lebanon Valley 5. Messiah 4
GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Flying Dutchmen beat the Messiah College Falcons in a narrow victory on Saturday afternoon's Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth matchup. With this victory, the Dutchmen clinched the No. 2 seed in the MAC Commonwealth conference championship and will host Messiah at home on Tuesday. LVC now goes into postseason play at 11-5, 5-1 MAC Commonwealth, while Messiah enters at 6-10, 4-2 MAC Commonwealth.
The Dutchmen started off strong winning both the No. 2 doubles when
Blake Martin and
Justin Schuetz took down Alex Mantsevich and Bryson Boettger 8-2, and in No. 3 doubles
Ben Hinkley and
Luke Senft beat Jarod Snader and AJ Swanson 8-2.
In singles play, it was the No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 singles that helped LVC edge out the Falcons. In No. 4 singles,
Elliott Kleckner beat Boettger 6-3, 6-4, and
Luke Senft in No. 5 singles came out with the win after a tie breaking set 6-7, 6-0, 7-5. In No. 6 singles,
Ben Hinkley beat AJ Swanson 6-1, 6-4.
Lebanon Valley returns home on Tuesday, April 30
th, as they take on Messiah in the MAC Commonwealth tournament semifinal. The start time is still to be determined.
