How It Happened
IMMACULATA, Pa. – Lebanon Valley scored seven runs in the eighth inning and held off a late charge from Immaculata and defeated the Mighty Macs 11-8 on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference baseball action. The Dutchmen improved to 12-10, while IU dropped to 10-8.

After a scoreless first for both teams, LVC got on the board in the top of the second beginning with Tanner Rock's double to right center that plated Michael Leri. Next, Nick O'Shea smashed a two-run shot down the right field line to increase the Dutchmen's advantage to 3-0. That score held up until the home team picked up a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth to come to within a run of the visitors at 3-2.

In the later innings, each team's offense woke up, and with LVC up 4-3 heading into the top of the eighth, the Dutchmen's bats exploded for seven runs. O'Shea drew a bases-loaded walk to start the eighth-inning onslaught, followed by Josh Herring's RBI-single through the left side. Chris DeClerico was then hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and Josh Marcelli followed that up with a two-RBI single down the left field line. Mitch Rickabaugh then singled home Herring and O'Shea, and later in the frame, Leri scored on a wild pitch that put the Dutchmen up 11-3.

In the bottom of the eighth, the home squad made things a bit interesting, but LVC was able to limit the damage and escape the inning clinging to a three-run advantage at 11-8. In the bottom of the ninth, freshman Joe DeGrazia was called on for the save attempt, and he retired the Might Macs in order, including a strikeout as the third out, to allow the Dutchmen to come away with the win.

Inside the Numbers
 - TJ Holdredge, Leri, and Rock finished with two hits apiece. Leri and Rock also each scored twice.
