How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley fell 15-4 to Arcadia on Thursday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth baseball action. The game was moved up one day due to Friday's inclement weather. The Flying Dutchmen now sit at 14-18, 6-10 MAC Commonwealth, while the Knights moved to 20-12, 11-5 MAC Commonwealth.
LVC got off to a hot start when
Bryan Towers singled to left field, allowing
Josh Herring to score in the bottom of the second. Then,
Tanner Rock ripped a single to right-center to plate Towers and extend the home team's lead to 2-0. In the top of the third, Arcadia evened the game at 2-2, but the Dutchmen got one back in the bottom of the frame on a very strange play.
Joey Wrabel advanced to second on a wild pitch, and the Knights' catcher attempted to pick up the ball with his mask, which is a two-base violation that allowed Wrabel to score and make it 3-2.
After Arcadia tied things up at 3-3 in the top of the fourth,
Josh Willey answered in the bottom of the inning with a single to right that scored
Michael Leri. In the next two innings, however, the away team answered in a big way, scoring three times in the fifth and four times in the sixth to go up 10-4. The Knights went on to add five more runs and the Dutchmen were unable to dig themselves out of the hole and fell 15-4.
