How It Happened
ARLINGTON, Va. – The Lebanon Valley Flying Dutchmen proved to be too much for the Marymount University Saints after scoring five unanswered goals in the second quarter and outscored the Saints 14-3 in Saturday afternoon's non-conference men's lacrosse contest. The Dutchmen gained their first win of the season and advanced to 1-4, while the Saints dropped to 1-4.
The Dutchmen were the first to score with 10:34 left in the quarter after
Trevor Holak found the back of the net unassisted. LVC added another one to the board 4:26 later when
Kevin Beaver with the assist from
Matt Torrence netted one on a man-up opportunity. Marymount kept the Dutchmen with in one after scoring a goal with 2:26 to go in the first.
The Dutchmen took the momentum of the game and ran with it in the second quarter. LVC was off to a quick start after Beaver with the assist from
Max Warmingham scored 0:26 into the quarter on another man-up opportunity. Lebanon Valley continued to keep offensive pressure on the Saints and scored four more unanswered goals to end the quarter. The Dutchmen entered into the second half leading 7-1.
Beaver became a huge offensive threat to the Saints after scoring Lebanon Valley's first three goals in the second half.
Joe Olives added two more to the Dutchmen's 10-2 lead after scoring two goals less than a minute apart. Torrence was right behind him and scored two more goals of his own giving LVC a 12-point lead. Marymount slipped past LVC and scored one more goal to end the game, but Lebanon Valley's lead was too large and the Dutchmen went on to win 14-3.
