How It Happened
FORT PIERCE, Fla. – Lebanon Valley blanked Dominican University (Ill.) in a dominant 23-0 victory on day two of the Flying Dutchmen's spring break trip. The Flying Dutchmen improved to 3-0, while the Stars dropped to 3-3.

In what has become a theme in the Sunshine State, LVC has been scoring early and often, and this morning's game against the Stars was no different. Josh Marcelli was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the top of the first for the Dutchmen's first run of the game, and later, Michael Leri singled home Joey Wrabel. Next up was Josh Herring, and the junior continued his torrid start to the season with a double down the left field line that plated a pair, making it 4-0. Later, Ethan Hurd added a sacrifice fly to give LVC a 5-0 lead before Dominican even came to bat.

In the second inning, the Dutchmen picked up where they left off in the first and the offense continued to fire on all cylinders. Chris DeClerico ripped a double to left to score Wrabel, followed by Leri's RBI-double to left. Herring doubled in his second consecutive plate appearance to score a pair, and then Dan Scalley singled home Herring to make it a 10-0 game. LVC wasn't done in the second, however, as Bryan Towers' single scored Scalley to increase the Dutchmen's advantage to 11-0.

On the mound, Jake Williams was stellar and pitched with a huge lead throughout his four innings of work. In the top of the fourth, LVC sent 14 batters to the plate and poured in nine more runs. Eventually, Williams and Joe DeGrazia held the Stars scoreless in a shortened seven-inning affair.

Inside the Numbers
 - Jake Williams picked up his first win of the young season after tossing four innings and allowing one hit to go along with six K's.
 - DeGrazia picked up the save after throwing the final three innings. He let up just two hits with six strikeouts as well.
 - Josh Herring, Dan Scalley, and Josh Willey registered three knocks apiece, while Herring led with five RBI.
 - Joey Wrabel, Chris DeClerico, Michael Leri, and Ethan Hurd each recorded two hits.
 - Freshman Seiler Edwards picked up a hit, as did Evan Hartman and Deavor Koch.
 - The Dutchmen again showed terrific plate discipline and drew nine total walks.

How It Happened
In game two of today's doubleheader, LVC took on the Lions of Penn State Behrend and held on for a 6-4 victory. The Dutchmen now sit at 4-0 on the season and are off to their best start since the 2011 season, while the Lions fell to 1-1.

Coming into the second game, LVC wasn't used to close games, but the Dutchmen came away victorious nevertheless. LVC again put up a crooked number in the top of the first, beginning with Marcelli's RBI-single that scored Towers. Then, TJ Holdredge grounded into a double play, but Wrabel scored to make it a 2-0 game.

From there, Tanner Rock, making his collegiate debut on the bump, kept Behrend's potent offense in check, until Wager reached on an error to score a pair in the bottom of the third to tie the contest at 2-2. The game remained tied until the top of the seventh when Towers singled home Leri to give the Dutchmen a 3-2 lead. Later in the frame, Marcelli lined out to right field to plate Luke Blair and add to LVC's advantage at 4-2.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Lions got one back with Brittner's sacrifice fly, but in the top of the eighth, the Dutchmen went back up by two after Nick O'Shea put down a sacrifice bunt and Behrend' pitcher botched the throw, allowing O'Shea to reach third base and Herring to score. Later, Blair reached on a fielder's choice to make it 6-3 LVC.

After Ryan Showalter relieved Rock and tossed 2.1 innings, Bryce Eberly made his collegiate debut on the mound and came on to attempt the four-out save. He escaped the eighth unscathed, but ran into some trouble in the bottom of the ninth. He allowed a lead-off walk, but got Brittner to pop up for the first out. Sada then doubled to right center to make it a 6-4 game, but Eberly worked his way out of trouble and recorded the next two outs consecutively, as the freshman was tested but didn't allow another run en route to LVC's narrow 6-4 win.

Inside the Numbers
 - Towers and DeClerico had two hits each, while Marcelli recorded two RBI.
 - Rock didn't factor into the decision but went five strong innings and didn't allow an earned run to go along with eight punchouts.
 - Showalter earned the win after striking out four batters in 2.1 innings pitched.
 - Eberly picked up the save in 1.2 innings pitched.
 - Rock, Showalter, and Eberly combined to strike out 12 batters. In four games so far this season, Dutchmen pitchers have struck out 52 total batters.
