How It Happened
IMMACULATA, Pa. – Six unanswered goals in the third quarter helped the Lebanon Valley Flying Dutchmen pull away from and defeat Immaculata University 18-5 in Saturday afternoon's non-conference men's lacrosse action. The Dutchmen improved to 4-5, while the Mighty Macs dropped to 2-5.
Lebanon Valley proved how the rest of the game would go after
Josh Croyle netted the first unassisted goal of the game 1:26 into the opening quarter. It didn't take long, but two minutes and 50 seconds for Immaculata to tie up the score with an unassisted goal from James Barretta. LVC started to gain control of the game and went on a three-goal run and now led 4-1. The Macs found the back of the net keeping the Dutchmen in reach with 0:55 remaining in the first and trialed by two.
The second quarter went much like the first with both teams scoring within the first two minutes. Both teams remained locked up until
Evan Crawford broke the lull and ripped one past Immaculata with 5:13 remaining in the first half for an unassisted tally.
Kevin Beaver then set the tone for the rest of the game and hurled one in between the pipes giving the Dutchmen a 7-3 lead to end the first half.
The third quarter won the game for Lebanon Valley as the Dutchmen scored six unanswered goals, three of which coming in the first five minutes of play. LVC entered into the final quarter leading 13-3.
Immaculata still fighting the good fight scored 12 seconds into the start of the fourth quarter, but the Dutchmen went on to seal the 18-5 victory by going on a five-point run.
