How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – A strong opening quarter propelled the Lebanon Valley Flying Dutchmen to a 13-6 victory over the Lions of Bryn Athyn College on Wednesday night in non-conference men's lacrosse action. The Dutchmen moved to 3-5, while the Lions dropped to 1-4.
Leading scorer
Kevin Beaver, with the assist from
Evan Crawford, was the first to put one on the board for the Dutchmen 3:56 in to the opening period. Bryn Athyn answered back nearly a minute later tying the score at 1-1, but it didn't take long for LVC to retake the lead, as the Dutchmen went on a six-point run with the last goal coming from
Michael Fisher with assist from
Max Warmingham with 0:23 left in the quarter, and Lebanon Valley entered the second quarter leading 7-1.
The second and third quarters were much more quiet as both teams were hustling on defense. LVC was able to get four more past the Lions, two of which were scored by Beaver, and the Dutchmen entered into the final quarter leading 11-4.
The fourth period was off to a quick start after Beaver, with the assist from Crawford, found the back of the net 0:41 from the start of the quarter. It looked like Bryn Athyn was going to make a late comeback after scoring two goals within 53 seconds of each other, but the Dutchmen continued with its forceful offense stout defense, and later Crawford, with the assist from
