How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Penn State Berks scored four runs in both the seventh and eighth inning to overtake Lebanon Valley and eventually win by a score of 10-5 on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference baseball action. The Dutchmen slipped to 9-3, while the Lions improved to 7-5.
LVC put up a three-spot in the bottom of the second, beginning with
Josh Willey's two-RBI double to right center that plated
Josh Herring and
TJ Holdredge. Later in the frame,
Joey Wrabel's sacrifice fly to center field score
Nick O'Shea to put the home team ahead 3-0. In the top of the fourth, Berks got two runs back after Hunter Sentz's single through the right side scored a pair.
Bryan Towers got one of those runs back for LVC with a sacrifice fly to left that scored
Ethan Hurd, making it 4-2 in favor of the Dutchmen.
Things unraveled for LVC in the top of the seventh, as the visitors put up four runs to go up 6-4. In the bottom of the seventh, however, the Dutchmen made it a one-run game off Holdredge's RBI-double to left center. But in the eighth, the Lions bolstered their advantage with four more runs to go up 10-5. In the final two innings, the Dutchmen were unable to come back and eventually fell 10-5.
Inside the Numbers
- Herring went 3-for-3 at the plate with one run scored.
- Holdredge finished 2-for-4 at the dish.
- Willey finished with two RBI.

Will Zimmerman got the start on the mound and tossed 3.2 innings and allowed one earned run.
- The Dutchmen used a total of eight pitchers in this afternoon's game.
- Berks' Corey Hennessey got the win in relief after throwing three innings and allowing one earned run.
