How It Happened
PITTSTON, Pa. – Lebanon Valley scored at least a goal in each period en route to their fifth win this season, a 4-2 victory over King's (Pa.) in UCHC and MAC women's ice hockey action on Saturday afternoon. The Dutchmen jumped to 5-16-1, 2-15-0 UCHC, while the Monarchs dropped to 1-20-1, 0-15-0 UCHC.
The Dutchmen were the first to get on the board when
Olivia Cindrich found the back of the net with the assist from
Lainey Tarasiewicz 11:41 into the first period. With strong defense from LVC, the Monarchs were unable to score, and Lebanon Valley entered the second up by one.
Both teams were knotted up for most of the second period, until
Chloe Glass ripped one in unassisted with 0:16 seconds left in the period to give the Dutchmen a 2-0 cushion heading into the final period.
King's kept the hope alive and netted one in 4:00 into the third. Lebanon Valley answered back just over three minutes later when
Darby Seymour lit the lamp on a power-play opportunity with the assist from
Amy Templeman and
Madalyn Nelson 7:01 into the period. The Dutchmen were up 3-1. The Monarchs closed the gap and came within one of Lebanon Valley when Josee Aitken found the back of the net 15:15 into the period. LVC wasn't done, however, and 19:03 into the period, King's pulled its goalie to bring out the extra attacker. Glass scored her second goal of the game on the empty net with 19:42 left in the game with the assist from
Jade Julius, and the Dutchmen hung on comfortably for the 4-2 victory.
