How It Happened
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's
Olivia Cindrich scored with 17 seconds left in the third period to tie the game against the Wilkes Colonels and send the game into overtime on Wednesday night's women's ice hockey contest. After neither team could score in the first overtime, the game ended in a tie. The Dutchmen moved to 4-16-1, and Wilkes added one to its third column as well 0-13-1.
With 1:12 left to play, Lebanon Valley pulled its goalie,
Jill Moffatt, which gave the Dutchmen added offensive control. Then with 0:17 remaining on the clock, Cindrich slipped one between the pipes to even the score at 1-1 and sent both teams into overtime.
In overtime, the Dutchmen had a few scoring chances, but were unable to capitalize.
Wilkes' Shauna Tubbs was the first to put the Colonels on the board, scoring 17:24 into the first period and held on to that lead all through out the second despite the strong offensive pressure by LVC.
