How It Happened
OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Lebanon Valley dropped a narrow 60-53 contest to Stevenson on Wednesday night in MAC Commonwealth women's basketball action. The Dutchmen now sit at 12-10, 8-5 MAC Commonwealth, while the Mustangs jumped to 11-11, 6-7 MAC Commonwealth.
Down by 11 at 25-14 heading into the third quarter, LVC slowly began to make a comeback.
Anne Lehr made sank a couple of free throws, and after Jonyae Curry's layup, Lehr drew another shooting foul and made two more shots from the charity stripe to make it 27-18 in favor of the home team. From there, the Dutchmen rattled off six consecutive points, including a pair of layups from
Emily Mealey, to cut the deficit to three at 27-24 with 6:53 remaining in the third. Later in the third, Lehr knocked down a jumper to make it a one-point game at 29-28 with 4:21 to go in the third and the game stayed close for the remainder of the period as Stevenson held just a five-point lead at 39-34 heading into the fourth.
In the final quarter, LVC hung around and didn't let the Mustangs pull away too far. With 5:16 left, the home squad opened up an eight-point advantage at 47-39, but a quick 5-0 run by the Dutchmen cut the deficit back to three at 47-44 with 3:51 left. That, however, was as close as LVC could get, but not without making Stevenson work for it. With 45 ticks to go,
Megan Bisco hit a 3-pointer to make it a 55-50 game, but the Mustangs went 5-for-6 from the charity stripe down the stretch to hold on for the 60-53 victory.
Points were hard to come by for both teams in the early going as Stevenson led 8-2 with 2:10 to go in the opening quarter.
Jen Eck connected on a jumper to make it 8-4, followed by two free throws from Lehr and then
Veronica Venezia's layup tied things up with 38 seconds left. The Mustangs' Kellie Johnson gave the home team a two-point lead at 10-8 with a layup with five seconds left, however, to give Stevenson a narrow advantage heading into the second.
Inside the Numbers
- Lehr played all 40 minutes and stuffed the stat sheet, going for a game-high 20 points and 13 rebounds for the double-double. She was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line and chipped in a pair of assists and a steal.
- Mealey finished with 13 points and six boards.
- Bisco chipped in six points off the bench.

Aley Abate had five points and four rebounds for the Dutchmen.
- Stevenson was led by Curry who netted 19 points, including 13 from the charity stripe.
- The Mustangs held the edge in total shooting percentage at 33.3-percent to 29.6-percent.
- LVC was the leader in bench points at 15-6.
- Stevenson had the advantage in points in the paint at 30-14.
Playoff Push
LVC is currently tied with Widener for the third spot in the MAC Commonwealth at 8-5. Albright, Stevenson, and Arcadia are tied for fifth at 6-7, while Messiah (14-0) has clinched the no. 1 overall seed and Lycoming is alone in second at 10-4.

The Dutchmen host Arcadia on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 4 p.m. in a crucial MAC Commonwealth matchup.
