How It Happened
OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Lebanon Valley dropped a narrow 60-53 contest to Stevenson on Wednesday night in MAC Commonwealth women's basketball action. The Dutchmen now sit at 12-10, 8-5 MAC Commonwealth, while the Mustangs jumped to 11-11, 6-7 MAC Commonwealth.

Down by 11 at 25-14 heading into the third quarter, LVC slowly began to make a comeback. Anne Lehr made sank a couple of free throws, and after Jonyae Curry's layup, Lehr drew another shooting foul and made two more shots from the charity stripe to make it 27-18 in favor of the home team. From there, the Dutchmen rattled off six consecutive points, including a pair of layups from Emily Mealey, to cut the deficit to three at 27-24 with 6:53 remaining in the third. Later in the third, Lehr knocked down a jumper to make it a one-point game at 29-28 with 4:21 to go in the third and the game stayed close for the remainder of the period as Stevenson held just a five-point lead at 39-34 heading into the fourth.

In the final quarter, LVC hung around and didn't let the Mustangs pull away too far. With 5:16 left, the home squad opened up an eight-point advantage at 47-39, but a quick 5-0 run by the Dutchmen cut the deficit back to three at 47-44 with 3:51 left. That, however, was as close as LVC could get, but not without making Stevenson work for it. With 45 ticks to go, Megan Bisco hit a 3-pointer to make it a 55-50 game, but the Mustangs went 5-for-6 from the charity stripe down the stretch to hold on for the 60-53 victory.

Points were hard to come by for both teams in the early going as Stevenson led 8-2 with 2:10 to go in the opening quarter. Jen Eck connected on a jumper to make it 8-4, followed by two free throws from Lehr and then Veronica Venezia's layup tied things up with 38 seconds left. The Mustangs' Kellie Johnson gave the home team a two-point lead at 10-8 with a layup with five seconds left, however, to give Stevenson a narrow advantage heading into the second.
