How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – A big first quarter by Albright put the Lebanon Valley women's basketball team in an early hole that they were never able to dig themselves out of as the Dutchmen fell to the Lions in MAC Commonwealth action on Saturday afternoon, 67-52. LVC falls to 3-5 and 0-2 in conference play on the year while Albright remains unbeaten with a 9-0, 2-0 record.
After the Dutchmen scored the opening basket on a
Kennedy Kuffa layup, the Lions would end up outscoring the Dutchmen 23-6 for the remainder of the period to build a 15-point advantage after just 10 minutes of action. Albright's Dejah Terrell started to impose her will on the offensive end as she tallied 10 of her game-high 20 points in the first quarter. LVC struggled to find any rhythm offensively due to an active Albright press-defense that forced the Dutchmen into 14 turnovers in the first half, 25 for the game, that resulted in 24 points for the Lions. Albright took a 38-21 lead into intermission.
The Dutchmen were just unable to gain any ground in the second half until late in the fourth quarter. LVC would outscore the Lions 17-5 in the final frame but the first-quarter deficit of 15 remained the same at the final horn as the Dutchmen fell to the Lions by that same 15-point margin.
