How It Happened
READING, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's ice hockey team picked up a 2-0 victory over King's College (Pa.) in the first game of the Keystone Holiday Classic on Friday evening. Emma Simpson and Morgan Martin each picked up goals while Jill Moffatt pitched a shutout in between the pipes for the Dutchmen.

LVC did not wait long to get on the scoreboard as Emma Simpson found the back of the net just 1:28 into the contest. Madalyn Nelson found the stick of Simpson who gave the Dutchmen the early 1-0 advantage. Jill Moffatt saved all 11 shots she faced and the Dutchmen took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

Near the midway point of the second period, LVC was awarded a power play opportunity after a King's slashing penalty. The Dutchmen would capitalize when Morgan Martin found nylon to double the LVC advantage. Taylor Borrelli and Olivia Cindrich picked up assists on the Martin goal and LVC would carry a two-goal lead into the final stanza.

The Dutchmen defense held strong in the final 20 minutes of action holding the Monarchs to just nine shots on goal and Moffatt would stop all nine attempts as LVC shutout King's for the 2-0 victory.
