How It Happened
ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Lebanon Valley ended 2019 on a high note and crushed Cedar Crest College 97-53 on Monday afternoon in non-conference women's basketball action. The Flying Dutchmen improved to 5-6, while the Falcons dropped to 1-8. This is the most points LVC has scored in one game since defeating Eastern 102-50 back on Feb. 6, 2006.
In the first quarter, things were close throughout as the Dutchmen were down by just two at 8-6 with 7:32 to go in the first period. Back-and-forth action continued, however the home team opened up a five-point advantage at 18-13 with 3:23 to go after Megan Peifer knocked down a triple. LVC quickly stormed back thanks to five consecutive points from
Emily Mealey, followed by a
Kennedy Kuffa layup with 1:04 to go. At the end of the first, each offense was clicking and the game was tied at 22-22 in a high-scoring opening period.
The second quarter is when the visiting Dutchmen began to pull away. At the 6:17 mark Cedar Crest's Peifer hit another 3-pointer to make it 34-30 in favor of LVC. LVC then answered with an impressive 12-0 spurt and took a 46-30 lead with 2:56 left in the second quarter. From there, the Dutchmen, specifically Mealey, continued to dominate and took a 52-32 lead into the third quarter with 21 points coming from Mealey in just two quarters of action.
In the second half, LVC continued to cruise and led by a sizable margin throughout the third and fourth quarters. The Dutchmen's defense also stepped things up a notch in the final two quarters and allowed just 21 points in the second half (seven in the third quarter) en route to the easy 97-53 victory.

Emily Mealey stuffed the stat sheet and ended with 32 points, the fourth-most in a game in program history. She made 14 field goals, which is a new LVC record, and added 22 rebounds, tied for the most in one contest in Dutchmen history. Mealey had 18 defensive boards and four offensive rebounds, two blocks and one steal in 33 minutes of action.

Morgan Bamberger also had an impressive evening and netted 23 points, including 15 points from beyond the arc.
- Jaime Younkin scored 14 points and had 10 rebounds for the double-double.

Kennedy Kuffa finished with 12 points and a game-high six assists.

Daelyn Stabler went 5-for-9 from the floor and had 10 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and nine steals.
- The Dutchmen shot 52.1% from the field, while the Falcons shot just 30.6%.
- LVC went 15-for-20 from the charity stripe as a team.
- The Dutchmen held the advantage in points off turnovers (32-15), second-chance points (18-4), bench points (14-10), and points in the paint (56-24).

LVC looks to build off this win on Saturday, Jan. 4, when the Dutchmen travel to Dallas, Pa. to take on Misericordia at 1 p.m.
