How It Happened
Pittsburgh, Pa. – Emma Simpson's goal with six minutes left in regulation helped Lebanon Valley's women's ice hockey squad earn a draw against Chatham University on Saturday evening. LVC is now 0-2-1, 0-0-1 on the year while Chatham goes to 1-1-1, 0-0-1.

Chatham would get on the scoreboard first after taking advantage of a Dutchmen penalty in the opening period. Danielle Bos would feed Ashley Marchant on the power play who was able to find the back of the net and give Chatham the 1-0 lead at the 9:52 mark of the first period. Chatham would have a second power play opportunity later in the period but LVC was able to kill that one off and keep the score at just 1-0 after the first 20 minutes.

The second period would see neither team able to find nylon despite LVC having a power play chance as the score remained 1-0 in favor of Chatham after two periods. In the final period, the Dutchmen would gain some momentum as they killed off a Chatham power play that saw them fire off six shots on the Dutchmen but unable to find the net. A few minutes later, Katie Pounder found the stick of Emma Simpson who would score the equalizer at the 14:00 mark of the third period. The goal would send the game to overtime at 1-1.

Neither side was able to pick up that elusive game-winning goal and the teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw, each team's first such outcome of the season.
