How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Gwynedd Mercy proved to be too much for Lebanon Valley in a 77-57 defeat to the Griffins on Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's basketball action. The Dutchmen dropped to 2-3, while Gwynedd Mercy stayed perfect and went to 4-0.

The contest was close early on with the Dutchmen down by just two at 8-6 with 15:17 remaining in the opening half. Gwynedd Mercy then opened up a 15-8 lead with 13:43 to go thanks to a 7-2 spurt. Later, Mason Green knocked down back-to-back shots from the charity stripe, bringing LVC to within five at 17-12 with 11:03 to go, but the hot-shooting Griffins went back up by double digits quickly after a 3-pointer by Myles Bunyon, followed by a layup from Nathaniel Walker, making it a 22-12 game with 9:36 left in the first. Back-and-forth action continued and after two possessions, the Dutchmen found themselves back to within five after Green's triple and Luis Garcia's layup made it 22-17 with 8:24 remaining. The game stayed tight for a few minutes after, but with 3:19 left and Gwynedd Mercy ahead 30-23, the Griffins ended the opening half on a 13-4 run and LVC went into the locker room down by 16 at 43-27.

In the second, the Dutchmen pulled to within 13 after Justin Baker hit a pair of free throws to make it 49-36 with 15:41 to go, but LVC was unable to get any closer. Gwynedd Mercy, who let off 29 3's in the game, made 11 of them and the Griffins never relinquished their advantage. LVC's offense was never able to get in rhythm and the Dutchmen eventually fell 77-57.
