How It Happened
CHESTER, Pa. – Anderson Velozwong's goal with just 28 ticks left in double overtime lifted the Dutchmen to a 3-2 victory over Widener as well as clinched the last spot in the MAC Commonwealth tournament. LVC improves to 8-8-2, 4-3-1 while Widener drops to 9-8-1, 2-5-1 on the season.

The first half was controlled by Widener, especially the first 20 minutes of the half as the Pride would find the back of the net twice before the midway point of the half. Just before the tenth minute of regulation, Peter O'Connor would find Nicholas LeFevre for the first goal of the game to give Widener the early lead. Liam Friel would add a second goal at the 18:08 mark if the half to double the Widener advantage. The 2-0 deficit for LVC would hold into intermission.

LVC would need just 1:26 in the second half to get on the scoreboard. Peter Foerster would feed Ivan Jorel on the left wing and Jorel would send in a cross into the box that would find the head of Rob Hanosek who would sneak the ball just inside the far post to cut the deficit in half. At the 84:57 mark of the second half, the Dutchmen would start to press offensively and Noah Campmizzi would secure the equalizer and send the game into extra time.

After a scoreless first overtime period, the game would enter a second extra time session and head to the final minute of the match before the Dutchmen would grab the game-winner. Hanosek played a ball from the left side across to Anderson Velozwong who took one touch and beat the keeper low to secure the 3-2 win with just 28 seconds left in the match. The goal not only won the match, but secured the fifth spot in the MAC Commonwealth tournament after Alvernia had defeated Albright earlier in the evening. Because of LVC's win over Alvernia earlier this season, the Dutchmen clinch the fifth spot with the tiebreaker.
