How It Happened
READING, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's ice hockey team picked up their first win of the season with a resounding 4-1 victory over Alvernia university on Saturday afternoon. Four different Dutchmen recorded a goal on the evening.

The Dutchmen got on the scoreboard in the first period when Madison Humes found Emma Simpson who buried the puck into the back of the net to put LVC up 1-0 with just under six minutes to play in the first period. Jill Moffatt stopped all 19 shots she faced in the opening period to give the Dutchmen the 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Midway through the second period, the Dutchmen would get a power play opportunity after an Alvernia boarding infraction. LVC would capitalize on the man-up chance when Mychaela Pitta found the stick of Katie Pounder as the Dutchmen doubled their lead, 2-0. The score would remain 2-0 after two periods. Olivia Gilida would pick up a PP goal for Alvernia midway through the third period to cut the LVC lead in half with just over ten minutes in regulation.

The Dutchmen would put the game on ice late in the third as Chloe Glass and Humes each tallied goals in an 18-second span in the final minute of play to give LVC the 4-1 victory. Moffatt stopped 45 of the 46 shots she faced in the win.
