How It Happened
HERSHEY, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's ice hockey team dropped their season-opener in a high-scoring, 5-4 affair, to Post University on Friday evening. The Dutchmen are 0-1 while the Eagles improve to 2-7 on the season.

The Eagles didn't wait long to get on the scoreboard when Sadie Storm finished off a Molly Brumfield assist just 1:33 into the first period to put the Dutchmen in an early hole. Post would add a second goal at the 5:46 mark in the first off the stick of Jenna Abeyta. The Eagles put 19 shots on cage compared to just one for the Dutchmen in the opening period as Post took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

The Dutchmen would respond in a big way in the second period with three goals of their own. Peyton Nagy would start off the scoring with an unassisted goal that trickled all the way down the rink from LVC's defensive zone with Nagy the last to touch it before it squirted into the net to cut the deficit in half. At the 13:15 mark of the second, Katie Pounder would assist Mychaela Pitta on the equalizing goal. Just under two minutes later, Olivia Cindrich would take the puck nearly the length of the ice and make a move to her backhand in open ice to beat a defender before finishing the play by beating the goaltender to give LVC a 3-2 lead after two periods.

In the opening minutes of the third period, Cindrich would play the puck from the right wing towards the crease for a tap-in goal by Pitta to double the Dutchmen advantage as they now led 4-2 early in the third. The Eagles would get their offense going towards the end of the period with three goals in just under two minutes capped by a redirected puck by Paige Dundas that found the back of the net giving the Eagles a 5-4 lead with just 4:35 left to play. The Dutchmen would be held scoreless for the remainder of regulation and would fall to the Eagles 5-4.
