How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's women's soccer team fell 3-1 to No. 14 Arcadia in a physical contest to open up conference play on a crisp Saturday afternoon at Herbert Field. Hannah Ferguson scored the lone goal for the Dutchmen in the loss. LVC falls to 3-6, 0-1 on the season while the Knights improve to 10-1-1, 1-0.

The Knights did not wait long to get on the board as they scored their first goal just 3:12 into the contest. Arcadia earned a corner kick that was played into the box where a group of players for both teams battled for the ball and it eventually trickled to the feet of Victoria Casey who would get enough on her shot to beat the Dutchmen defense and put the Knights up 1-0 early. Arcadia would double their lead at the 16:00 mark on a penalty kick. Bridget Sway would capitalize on the penalty kick opportunity to put the Knights up 2-0 just over a third of the way through the first half.

The Dutchmen would get back into the game just 4:45 later off a corner kick. Madison Carper played a beautiful out-swinging ball from the right corner flag that found the head of Hannah Ferguson who blasted the ball into the left corner to cut the deficit in half. LVC would trail by just one at the halftime break.

Arcadia would grab a key insurance goal just before the 60:00 mark when Karlie Flowers placed a perfect shot into the top-left corner of the goal from about 25 yards out to stretch the Knight advantage back to a pair of goals. LVC's offense was stymied in the second half by a stingy Arcadia defense that surrendered just one shot in the final 45 minutes of action as the Dutchmen would fall short to Arcadia by a 3-1 score in both team's conference opener.
