How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's soccer team dropped their final home conference match of the season by a 2-1 score in double overtime on Tuesday evening. Lycoming's Bailey Gilmore scored the game-winner in the 103rd minute to down the Dutchmen.
Before the game, the Dutchmen honored their two seniors,
Cheyenne Scott and
Serena Donmoyer, on Senior Day.
The first half was tightly contested with neither team grabbing an edge early on. Lycoming outshot the Dutchmen by just one, 9-8, in the first half while the Dutchmen held the advantage in corner kicks 5-4. The game would head into intermission scoreless.
In the second half, the Dutchmen would earn a corner kick just 3:47 into the half.
Madison Carper would deliver the ball across the face of the net and
Jessica Lingenfelter would head the ball into the back of the net to put LVC ahead 1-0 early in the second half. The Warriors would respond about 11 minutes later when Elle Sarracco would place a shot from the left wing perfectly into the top-right corner of the goal to bring the game to a 1-1 tie. The Dutchmen would outshoot the Warriors 10-5 in the second half but neither team would find the net for the remainder of regulation, sending the game into extra time.
The first overtime period only saw three shots with LVC putting the only shot on net for the period. Just over two minutes into the second overtime session, Jayden Leighow would play a chipped through ball from the right wing toward the middle of the 18-yard box followed by a chip shot from Bailey Gilmore to give the Warriors the 2-1 lead over the Dutchmen.
