How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's field hockey team shut out Hood College 7-0 on Saturday afternoon in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth action. The Flying Dutchmen improved to 10-6, 5-1 MACC, while the Blazers fell to 1-17, 0-6 MACC.

Before today's game, Alida Steenkamer, Mikayla Poole, Hannah Simon, and Faith Dinger were honored on Senior Day.

LVC got things going early when Danielle Alba scored off Taylor Pentz's pass off a penalty corner just 4:26 into the game. Then, just under two minutes later, Faith Dinger scored an unassisted goal to make it 2-0 Dutchmen quickly. With 1:20 remaining in the opening quarter, Ashlee Sheibley corralled a ball in front of the goalie and scored her sixth of the season, giving LVC a comfortable 3-0 lead after one period of action.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the second, but the Dutchmen were still ahead by three at the halftime break. Coming out of the break, Cecile Kat made it 4-0 in favor of the home team just 54 seconds into the third, and she followed it up five minutes later with her 16th goal of the season, off an assist from Alba, making it 5-0.

A few minutes later, Sheibley found the back of the net for the second time this afternoon off an assist from Steenkamer. Then, with less than a minute left in regulation, Kassidy McKeever scored her first of the season and the Dutchmen held on for the easy 7-0 victory.
