How It Happened
GRANTHAM, Pa. – No. 12 Messiah netted a pair of fourth-quarter goals to overtake Lebanon Valley and eventually stop the Flying Dutchmen's win streak at seven with a 2-1 victory on Wednesday night in MAC Commonwealth Field Hockey action. LVC fell to 9-6, 4-1 MAC Commonwealth, while the Falcons improved to 11-4, 5-0 MAC Commonwealth. Despite tonight's result, LVC has clinched a spot in the upcoming MAC Commonwealth Postseason Tournament.

In the first two quarters, the home team controlled the action and generated several penalty corners, but Nikki Willi and the Dutchmen's defense stood tall and had all the answers. Messiah had several scoring chances, but going into halftime, the game remained tied at 0-0.

Abbie Keath broke the 0-0 tie midway through the third quarter when she rocketed a ball into the back of the cage, giving the visiting Dutchmen a huge 1-0 lead, an advantage that they took into the fourth quarter.

The Falcons eventually evened the game four minutes into the fourth quarter when Emily Knepp found the back of the net off an assist from Jennie Young. Then, with just over five minutes left in regulation, Knepp netted another goal to give Messiah a 2-1 advantage. From there, the home team held LVC's offense in check and held on for the narrow victory.
