How It Happened
GRANTHAM, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's women's soccer team dropped a conference matchup to the second-ranked Messiah College Falcons 6-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons offense asserted themselves early as Kayla Herr was able to finish off a Maddie Kohl assist to grab the early lead just over 10 minutes into the contest. Kohl would score 10 minutes later herself as the Falcons led 2-0 midway through the first half of play. Messiah would outshoot the Dutchmen 18-2 in the first 45 minutes and a Sunny Gelnovatch goal in the 28th minute would put LVC in a 3-0 hole going into halftime.
After an early goal for Messiah in the second half,
Madison Carper would find
Lindsey Topper in a dangerous area and Topper would place the ball in the top right corner of the goal to put the Dutchmen on the board, putting the score at 4-1 Messiah at the 53:47 mark. The Falcons would score a pair of goals later in the second half to put away the Dutchmen as LVC fell 6-1 to the nation's second-ranked team in Messiah.
