Lebanon Valley def. Hood 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-14)
How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley volleyball team picked up a conference victory over Hood College in straight sets on Tuesday evening in Sorrentino Gymnasium. LVC is now 12-10 overall and 3-2 in conference play on the season.
The first set was a wire-to-wire set win for the Dutchmen. The Dutchmen won the first four points to grab an early lead and then opened up a 10-2 advantage over the Blazers. Hood would not be able to get back into the set as LVC kept at least a four-point lead for the remainder of the set as the Dutchmen cruised to a 25-19 set victory.
The Dutchmen controlled the second set and held a 14-9 lead before ending the set winning 11 of the last 15 points earning the set win and taking a two-set lead over Hood. The third set was more of the same as the Dutchmen were in complete control early in the set and would never relinquish their lead. LVC won eight of the first 11 points to grab a big lead and would cruise to victory by a 25-14 mark to sweep the Blazers.
Reily Shelly led the Dutchmen offensively with 15 kills, followed by
Jayna Class with 12 kills, and
Mikiah Sangrey picked up nine kills. Class led LVC with three service aces and two blocks as well.
Emily Bartlett tallied 40 assists, her third most in a single game this season.
Alice Thorsen led the Dutchmen on defense with 12 digs.
Julia Rill also picked up eight digs for the Dutchmen.
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen will head down to Arlington, Va. for their next two games as they compete at the Marymount University Tri-Match this Saturday. LVC will take on Marymount at 4 p.m. followed by a matchup with Marywood University at 6 p.m.
