How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Behind Cecile Kat's second-quarter goal, Lebanon Valley won its sixth-consecutive game and handed Widener its first loss of the season on Friday afternoon on Homecoming Weekend in MAC Commonwealth field hockey action. The Dutchmen improved to 8-5, 3-0 MACC, while the Pride slipped to 12-1, 2-1 MACC.

Just under three minutes into the second quarter, LVC got into Widener's zone and let off a flurry of shots. Ashlee Sheibley's shot was saved by Sabrina Roberto, and then Kat's initial attempt was also saved by the Pride's netminder, but the rebound came right back to Kat's stick and she ripped one by Roberto to give the Dutchmen the all-important 1-0 advantage. In the later stages of the second quarter, Widener sped into LVC's zone and let off a few shots of its own, but Nikki Willi was there each time to make the stop and keep the Dutchmen ahead by one heading into halftime.

LVC's defense continued to dominate in the second half and allowed just a shot attempts in the third, followed by two shots in the second. One was on net by Jackie Daniels, but Willi shoved it away and the Dutchmen eventually held on for the huge 1-0 conference victory.
