How It Happened
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Lebanon Valley fell in its first game of a two-game series with the Nazareth Golden Flyers in Friday night's United College Hockey Conference (UCHC) women's ice hockey action. The Dutchmen dropped to 4-13-0, 1-12-0 UCHC, and the Golden Flyers improved to 13-3-1, 9-3-0 UCHC.
Nazareth jumped out and took an early lead just 1:14 into the first period as Mikaila Rubin netted one off an assist from Hailey Redders. Lebanon Valley was able to get a couple shots off, but was unable to convert. The Golden Flyers had a dominating offense and put shot after shot on goal, but
Jill Moffatt held her ground and the game remained 1-0 after the first period of action.
Nazareth, again, was quick off the mark when Taylor Hudson scored an unassisted goal just 0:41 to start the second period. Similar to the first, the Dutchmen were hard-pressed to get into a scoring position due to the aggressive offense by the Golden Flyers. Nazareth scored its third and final goal of the game when Gabriella DeMeo found the back of the net unassisted 7:18 into the second. Moffatt kept the home team at bay as she stopped 25 of the 27 shots that came at her. The Dutchmen, however, were unable to make a comeback and fell by a 3-0 margin.
