How It Happened
ASTON, Pa. – Neumann University dropped seven goals on Lebanon Valley in the second period en route to a 9-1 victory over the Dutchmen on Friday night in United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) action. LVC fell to 7-9-2, 5-5-2 UCHC, while the Knights jumped to 3-12-3, 2-6-3 UCHC.
Nearly midway through the opening period, Neumann broke the 0-0 tie when Zac Boyle found the back of the net. The Dutchmen were unable to produce the equalizer, but were down by just a goal after one period of play.
The middle period quickly got away from LVC, as the Knights scored 35 seconds in, followed by goals at 2:24 and 4:50 to go ahead 4-0 under five minutes into the period. Then, the Dutchmen got one back when
Kevin Van Bokkelen scored from
Tyler Romel and
Brett Johnson 7:08 into the second. Neumann, however, was able to pull away thanks to four more goals in the period. LVC's deficit was too great, and the Knights added one more goal in the third for good measure for the 9-1 win.
