How It Happened
HERSHEY, Pa.Brett Johnson scored a goal off a rink-wide feed from Tyler Romel to give Lebanon Valley a thrilling 4-3 overtime-victory over King's (Pa.) on Wednesday night in UCHC and MAC men's ice hockey action. The Dutchmen improved to 7-8-2, 5-4-2 UCHC, 3-2-1 MAC, while the Monarchs dropped to 1-17-0, 1-10-0 UCHC, 0-5-0 MAC.

With just eight seconds left in regulation and the Monarchs' goalie pulled for the extra attacker down by one at 3-2. Cameron Anklewich got a shot off through traffic that slipped by Tyler Perhac to even the game at 3-3 in the final seconds and send it into an extra five-minute period. In overtime, after Perhac made a save, the puck came out in front of him to Romel, and he send a perfect pass to a streaking Johnson, who created separation from the defense and got a breakaway opportunity. The senior made the most of it, and made a pretty move to score the game-winner at the 2:54 mark.

Earlier in the contest, the Dutchmen struck first when Johnson found Cole Hepler who found the back of the net to put LVC ahead 1-0 5:28 into the game. Then, at 11:11, King's evened the score when Jamie Lukas scored from Alex Bastone. Then, with just 22 seconds left in the opening period, Bryan Hovanec made it 2-1 in favor of LVC from Hepler and Mike Straub.

In the second, the Monarchs again tied it when Bastone netted a goal, but the Dutchmen struck again when Johnson scored his first of the night, a short-handed goal from Hepler, to give LVC its lead back at 3-2 heading into the third period. The Dutchmen were unable to put King's away, however, and the Monarchs scored late to send the game into overtime, but the Dutchmen prevailed thanks to Johnson's goal.
