How It Happened
HERSHEY, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's women's ice hockey team dropped a 7-0 UCHC game to Utica on Friday night inside Hersheypark Arena. The Dutchmen fell to 2-11-0, 1-10-0 UCHC, while the Pioneers jumped to 11-3-0, 8-1-0 UCHC.
LVC played a solid first period and held Utica's potent offense in check.
Jill Moffatt stopped all 15 shots she faced, and the Dutchmen saw a few scoring chances, but were unable convert, as the two squads went into the first intermission knotted at 0-0.
The Pioneers broke through in the middle period at 8:08 when Lexi Stanisewski found the back of the net off an assist from Rebecca Brown, and then just 16 seconds later, Georgiana Santullo made it 2-0 in favor of the visitors with another tally. At 16:12, with Utica on the power play, Santullo netted another, followed by Brown's goal with 1:10 remaining to give the Pioneers a 4-0 cushion heading into the third period.
In the early going of the third, LVC again showed a bit of an offensive flurry, but Bria Reilly was again there to make all of the stops. Then, midway through the final period, Katrina Cornick scored an unassisted goal, and Kyra Borsoi then netted a goal at 17:42. 28 seconds later, Olivia Hirschy found the back of the net and the visitors went on to win 7-0.
