How It Happened
Lebanon Valley dropped its second tight contest in as many outings, as the Flying Dutchmen fell 3-2 at Dickinson on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 8.
LVC (0-3) got off to a strong start when
Cecile Kat finished off a feed from
Taylor Pentz to put the visitors on the board first in the game's sixth minute.
Things started to pick up for the Red Devils (1-3) a few minutes later, when Marie Laverdiere netted the team's first marker off an assist from Mia Scott at the 34:42 mark. Less than five minutes later, Elle Werner put Dickinson out in front for the first time with an unassisted score.
It didn't take long for the Dutchmen to draw even, however, as
Karli Alichwer converted an attempt off a penalty corner in the 18th minute.
Taylor Pentz and
Alida Steenkamer added helpers on the game-tying goal.
The defenses picked up from there, as the contest remained tied for the next 26 minutes until Emma Godfrey found the back of the net with 24:07 left to play.
Lebanon Valley got a pair of decent looks in the final minutes but shots by Kat and Pentz were saved by Dickinson goalkeeper Heather Meeder to preserve the narrow victory for the Devils.
