How It Happened
Behind a hat trick from Cecile Kat, Lebanon Valley picked up its first victory of the young season on Wednesday night, Sept. 12; a 4-1 decision over Goucher at Arnold Field.

Kat was constantly wreaking havoc on the visitors' side of midfield. She got off a game-high eight shots on goal en route to netting a season-high three goals, with coming came within a span of less than 10 minutes. By the time she found the back of the cage for the third time, her heroics effectively put the game out of reach.

The opening half saw the Flying Dutchmen (1-3) with their fair share of chances to get on the board first but Gophers' goalkeeper Gillian Sickler proved game in making three saves in the first eight minutes. Although LVC controlled possession for much of the opening 45 minutes, the go-ahead goal would have to wait until after the break.

Kat finally broke the scoreless tie when she hammered home an attempt following an insertion off a penalty corner from Jenna Lysakowski in the 38th minute. The initial tally opened the floodgates, as Kat would double the Dutchmen advantage less than five minutes later with her second marker, this time off a feed from Taylor Pentz. Before Goucher (2-3) could recover, Kat put a bow on her hat trick with 22:36 left to play.

Isabella Vulopas got into the scoring act four minutes later when she finished off a pass from Kat through a number of Gopher defenders into the left side of the goal, increasing the advantage to 4-0 with less than 20 minutes remaining.

The visitors finally got on the board when Jackie Juarez deflected a pass from Valerie Mendoza into the back of the cage following a penalty corner with 10:03 left in regulation. The marker capped the game's scoring and proved too little too late for Goucher.
