How It Happened
Lebanon Valley suffered its first conference loss of the season, dropping a slim 1-0 decision to Arcadia at Arnold Field on Saturday night, Sept. 29.
Despite playing the role of aggressor for much of the night, the Flying Dutchmen (5-5, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth) were never able to convert the goal they needed to take the lead or draw even with the Knights (7-2, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth).
LVC outshot the visitors 14-5 in the opening half and held an 8-2 advantage in penalty corner opportunities but came away with nothing to show for it heading into the break.
The momentum swung in the favor of Arcadia early in the second half when Mickie March was able to navigate through some traffic in front of the Lebanon Valley goal and make a pass to a diving Gabby Sedares who finished off the play with what would prove to be the game winner in the 37th minute.
Cecile Kat got off three good looks in the final 20 minutes, including one rocket blast of an attempt following a
Jenna Lysakowski insertion on a penalty corner, but each time, Knights' goalkeeper Ashton Evans made critical saves that preserved the slim lead.
The Dutchmen got one last look at a potential game-tying goal with a penalty corner in the closing moments but
Alida Steenkamer's shot was turned away when Arcadia's Sydney Cyr made a defensive save with seven seconds left to play.
