How It Happened
ST. DAVID'S, Pa. –
Noah Campomizzi scored with three seconds left in regulation to help Lebanon Valley's men's soccer team earn an eventual 2-2 tie with Eastern University on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action. The Dutchmen moved to 4-3-1, while the Eagles now sit at 5-2-1.
Trailing by one in the final minute of the second half, Eastern twice failed to clear the ball and LVC took advantage.
Rob Hanosek sent a ball into space for Campomizzi, and he broke free and shoot the ball towards the far post and it curled in to knot the game at 2-2 with just three seconds remaining to send the contest into overtime.
In the first extra period, the Dutchmen generated a corner kick in the 95th minute, however nothing came of it. 30 seconds later,
Jake Kline had a header but it went wide and the match went into a second overtime. In the final extra frame, Eastern got a shot off after a corner kick in the final minute of action, but
Sean Quirk made the stop and the match ended in a tie.
Late in the first with the game scoreless, the Eagles' Jake Sankey sent a header towards net but Quirk made a fantastic save to keep the game tied heading into halftime.
All four of today's goals were scored in the second half, beginning in the 76th minute when Jacob Myers netted a goal from Colin Furlong and Matthew Mitchell to give the Eagles a brief 1-0 advantage. LVC struck back, though, in the 79th minute when Kline gave a pass to
Kyle Guissanie and the senior shot the ball through the goalie's legs from a tight angle to tie the match at 1-1.
Then, in the 86th minute, Myers tallied his second of the day for Eastern off a header from a cross from Furlong. It looked as though the Eagles were on their way to victory with the late score, but that's when Campomizzi found the back of the net with just three seconds left to send the game into OT.
